Our favorite family day in Newport Beach.....

Drive to Balboa Island, park near the ferry and take one of the Balboa Ferry's which carry 3 cars each, bicycles and pedestrians across the bay to the Balboa Fun Zone (on the Balboa Penninsula). If you leave your car on the island, parking is free (if you can find a spot).  If you put your car on the ferry  the Fun Zone area has metered  parking, or, at the ocean, 3 blocks away, there is a pay parking lot with attendant .

Get a Balboa Bar...Ice Cream bar dipped in chocolate and rolled in nuts and sprinkles.

Visit  the Fun Zone attractions .... pinball, bumper cars, skeeball, ferris wheel, many food concessions or book a partial day fishing trip.

Get a Balboa Bar...

Walk across to the ocean, check out the surfers at The Wedge, several blocks to the left.

Rent some bikes and ride down to McFadden's Wharf and Newport Pier..buy some fresh fish off  the boats from the Dorry Fishing Fleet...

Get a Balboa Bar...

and leave some room for dinner    (Remember the fresh fish you just bought)

Next day:  Drive to Balboa Isand, arrive at 8 AM ,park near the ferry, take the ferry again to the Fun Zone, board the "Newport Flyer" boat for the  1 1/2 hr trip to Catalina Island which departs at 9 AM and returns at 6:30 PM.  For reservations (necessary most summer weekends) and info  call (949) 673-5245
