Some say a visit to Palm Springs isn’t complete without seeing a performance of the Palm Springs Follies. This performance group celebrates the music, dance and comedy of the 30s and 40s. The performers are all between the ages of 55 and 80 and perform a high-energy show that’s been regaled in the media for several years.
This highly acclaimed show (according to the Los Angeles Times, the show is regularly sold out) has performances running from November to May. If you’re headed to Palm Springs at that time of year, the Palm Springs Follies are worth checking out.
Because Palm Springs brings a variety of people into town throughout the year, there are a variety of choices. At the McCallum Theatre, you can enjoy shows ranging from caustic comedian David Sedaris to the Broadway show “Riverdance”. This theatre is not in Palm Springs central, but about 11 miles east.
If it’s cinema you seek, head to Palm Springs in January, when the city holds its annual International Film Festival . A mini version is also held in August and September.Finally, for a good jazz, dance or comedy performance, head over to the Annenberg Theater, which is located in the Palm Springs Art Museum in downtown Palm Springs.
