Most, if not all residents of the City of Boulder, Colorado are CU Buffs fans. “Buffs” is short for “Buffaloes,” which is the University of Colorado’s mascot. All of the sports teams that are associated with the university are considered “Buffs.” The university has thousand upon thousands of football and basketball fans and followers, and the support for the sports teams at the university is phenomenal, both from CU students as well as from permanent residents of Boulder.

In addition to university sports, there are countless sporting activities that can be practiced in and around the Boulder area. A few of them include, bicycling, fishing, golf, hiking, rock climbing, in-line skating, swimming, running, and the list goes on an on. Most people who live, go to school, and visit Boulder are outdoors enthusiasts, so most of the sports related activities that are available here are related to the outdoors.

There are recreation centers in Boulder which offer classes and instructions for various sports and other indoor and outdoor activities. Two of the most popular recreation centers are the University of Colorado Rec Center, which is located on the CU campus, and the East, North and South Boulder Recreation Centers, which are run by the City of Boulder.
