"A Taste of Colorado" is held right in Downtown out in the park.  It is a 4 day event beginning the Friday before Labor Day and ending around 8pm on Labor Day itself.  One will find numerous booths with so many different kinds of wonderful food, everything from huge turkey legs to fried alligator tail to spiced almonds, you name it!  They also have a variety of different bands that play over the weekend, from Jazz to Rock to Oldies so there is truly something for everyone.  

Aside from the "Taste", Denver and Colorado as a whole,  has some sort of festival almost every month, especially during the spring/summer.  Check out a search for "events in Colorado" or colorado.com, and you will get several sites to check out.  some include the Peoples Fair (June) http://www.peoplesfair.com/. the Lo Do festival, Gaylord street Fair, Black History month, Oktober fest, etc. See" http://cityguide.aol.com/denver/annua...   for a list of a few more.  All of these offer food, Music, booths, outdoor fun.  Most serve beer/wine or coolers and dancing is FreeFree Free.  There are way too many to list here, a search of the web will bring up something to do each and every weekend.  also check out the ARTS, as many Art activities and shows are held each year.  See:   www.thisweekindenver.com
