The weather in Durango, which sits at more than 6,500 feet above sea level, is pretty much moderate year-round. Winters tend to be mild and sunny, with temperatures ranging from 10 degrees to 50 degrees Fahrenheit. The average snowfall is about 70 inches per year, but the low, sunlit valley keeps grounds manageable, and sets the scene for perfect skiing conditions. Spring is warmer but often rainy, with annual precipitation of almost 20 inches per year. Summer highs top off at about 80 degrees to 90 degrees Fahrenheit, and fall is cool, dry, and pleasant. Fall is actually a great time to visit Durango, especially if you plan to drive along one of the famous Scenic Byways. Officially, however, the busiest tourism season is from Memorial Day through Labor Day. So if you plan to travel during this time, it’s in your best interest to make reservations well in advance.
