Cedar Key is a wonderful place to go and relax.....it's like Key West, without Duval Street.  Nice, quiet, friendly and small.

The birding is excellent! The town is host to the Cedar Keys National Wildlife Refuge. This is one of the best sites in Florida to see an abundance of birds. The birds are highly visible year round with different groups calling the area home each season.  Bring your binoculars and your camera - you're going to want a closer look!

The people are very laid back so if you want to party...you need to bring it with you. There are some bars in town with music on the weekends, but the town does close up relatively early. No serious clubbing here.

There's great fishing here in Cedar Key's Nature Coast. Cedar Key is a part of the Big Bend of the Gulf of Mexico and are known for excellent flats fishing. You can charter boats or a captain. Both inshore and offshore fishing are popular. Kayaks are available for rent.

There's plenty of lodging choices in Cedar Key - from vacation rental condos to historic hotels, quaint/funky cottages, and larger private rental homes. There's something to suit everyone's taste and budget.

Wear water shoes in the water because of the oyster bars...but overall, Cedar Key is a perfect destination for those wanting to unwind, quietly.
