Clearwater has many outdoor activities for the whole family to enjoy. Bring/rent bikes or even rollerblades and you can ride/glide along the 34 mile Pinellas Trail. For more information on the trail, click here. Then there is the Florida Botanical Gardens, this is 182 acres of nature at it’s best with Florida native plants, exotic tropicals and of course wildlife. For more information on the gardens visit http://www.flbg.org/. For a more in depth and guided experience with Florida nature visit Weedon Island Preserve. For more information click here.

All of the above are located in Pinellas County and within minutes from Clearwater.

Another thing to know before visiting beautiful Clearwater is that, though the sand on Clearwater Beach is unbeatable (like powdered sugar), the Beach can tend to be very crowded at times.  It costs a couple of dollars to park at the beach, and there are many attractions and restaurants within walking distance.

If you want to avoid the crowds, however, it is highly recommended to go to the South end of the beach, passing over the bridge that leads to Gulf Blvd., and make a right onto Sand Key Beach.  It is quiet, beautiful, and you can see most of what is happening on Clearwater Beach from some spots.  Put your towel down next to the small rock peninsula and soak in the peaceful sounds of the Gulf!
