There are many sports and activities available to visitors to Fernandina Beach, and all of the Amelia Island.  Many of these activities have to do with the ocean in some for or another.

During the warmer months surrounding summer, many visitors choose to spend their days at one of the city’s beach parks.  Most of the parks have swimming beaches, and some offer visitors the option to get involved in other water activities such as, kayaking, canoeing, jet skiing, parasailing, and more.

Boating is a big deal on Amelia Island, and many families spend their vacations floating around and exploring the many sights of the area.    There are numerous public boat ramps around the island, as well as in the Fernandina Beach area.  Various companies around the area offer charter trips, some of which are for sightseeing and others for fishing.  It is also possible to rent boats from certain companies for personal use.

The fishing on the island is great.  Various charter boat companies take clients out in the ocean to catch sport fish such Tarpons, King fish, and Amberjacks.  Although fishing from a boat may increase the chances of catching something large, there are plenty of shore areas to fish at as well

Bird watching is another activity that is great on the island.  Florida in general is known for its abundance of birds, and Amelia Island is no different.

Recently added bike lanes along with re-paving of many of the streets make Amelia Island a great place to cycle.  Rentals are available in many of the beach and bicycle shops.
