Fort Lauderdale has quickly become one of the top destinations for gay and lesbian travelers.  Gay and lesbians visitors will feel welcomed!

The main “scene” for gays and lesbians happens in Wilton Manors.  Wilton Manors is a city itself; yet, it is surrounded on all sides by Fort Lauderdale.  A huge number of gay-owned and gay-friendly businesses are located on Wilton Drive, or “The Drive” as some people call it.  Wilton Drive is just a few minutes north of Downtown Fort Lauderdale.  Northeast 4th Avenue turns into Wilton Drive as you enter Wilton Manors.  Along the Drive, you will find quirky shops, a number of great restaurants, and a host of bars.  Some very expensive and highly sought after condos and townhouses are being constructed within walking distance of all that Wilton Manors has to offer.  City officials and business owners are valiantly trying to make the area more pedestrian friendly, much like the tony Las Olas area in Downtown Fort Lauderdale.

In your journey to Fort Lauderdale, don’t just concentrate on Wilton Drive.  There are gay-owned and gay-friendly businesses scattered throughout the area.  When you get in town, seek out one of the gay publications to find out where to go to feel especially welcome.
