One of the more entertaining and enjoyable things you can do in Fort Lauderdale, besides relaxing on its beautifl beach, is to take a  Riverfront Cruise.   First, note that you get a discount if you show your AAA membership card.  Plus, if you are a AAA member, you get a voucher for a free drink on board.  The cruise departs from a picturesque plaza with various souvenir shops and restaurants.  It takes about 1.5 hours.  As you float past gorgeous villas and listen to the captain's amusing, yet informative, stories about each villa's owner, you truly begin to understand why Fort Lauderdale is called the Venice of America.  Don't forget to bring your camera -- you will want to take pictures of mansion after mansion, with unbelievable pools and landscaping, yachts, fountains, grottos, and many, many other amazing things.

Birch State Park

Hugh Taylor Birch used to own most of the real estate along the water. This piece of land was willed by him and is a public park. There is a great bike path or you can go roller blading, or if you just want to have a picnic - there are grills and covered picnic spots throughout the park. You can bring your dog but they must be on a leash. You can get to the beach from here via an underground tunnel.

Football/ Baseball Training for Kids

The Scholar Athlete Academy in Fort Lauderdale provides either individual or group training for quarterbacks and pitchers. A great way to occupy the kids for the day while the adults can get some time to themselves!
