A short drive from both Punta Gorda and Fort Myers , the Babcock/Webb Wildlife Management Area encompasses 79,013 acres of undeveloped wet pine flatwoods. It’s a great place to go hiking, mountain biking or horseback riding. A boat ramp provides fishing access for trophy bluegill, and nature trails lead to abundant resident and migratory birding and other wildlife viewing. The land, purchased in 1941, is set in the midst of Southwest Florida farm pastures, citrus groves and residential housing.
