St. Pete Beach (SPB) is a wonderful mix of fun things to do for people of all ages as well as families. Beyond the gorgeous wide white sand beaches that you can freely walk for miles (all beaches are open to the public) SPB also has many really good (and a few great) restaurants--again something for everyone. Many things are within walking distance and there is a beach trolley but having a car is recommended.
To do: Besides baking on the beach or hanging out at the pool, there is an endless list of things to do.Spend the day at Ft. Desoto Park . It is only a few miles away but is a step back in time to "Old Florida" Beyond the scrub pines, palmetto bushes and palm trees is one of America's top 10 best beaches. The Park encompasses 900 acres, consists of 5 pristine islands, and offers superb amenities as well as, hiking, biking, swimming, roller blading, kayaking, canoeing, fishing, or camping. The park also offers tours to nearby Egmont Key and, of course, the fort. From the park you can see the Sunshine Skyway bridge which spans Tampa Bay south to Bradenton. It is worth a drive across the bridge (toll $1.00) just for the view. [while you are over there, visit Ellenton outlet mall for great buys on designer clothes and more]
