Wilton Manors is an up & coming Gay Mecca within the Fort Lauderdale city limits.
It's called Wilton Manors City Island because the entire city is surrounded by water canals. Since housing is still kind of reasonable a lot of people have been flocking here from all over the U.S. for cheaper housing and a sunny climate. Average year around temp is 82.5 degrees, with the most pleasant months being November up till about the middle of May. Summer is a bit humid for some, but after awhile you get used to it.

The main drag is Wilton drive which recently got a bit of a face lift and there are currently about 10 bars located on Wilton Drive which are all walkable to each other.
Wilton Manors also has 2 gay pride festivals. One in March in the neighboring city of Oakland park (which is about 1 mile from Wilton Manors) and the other in June right in the heart of Wilton Manors in the street or in the park ( some years the parade is in the day some years at night).
There are a few Lesbian bars; one on Wilton Drive called New Moon with a nice outdoor patio which is fun. Georgie's Alibi, Atomic Boom and Sidelines are fun places on Wilton drive also. Most of the other bars are mostly men but welcome gay women without prejudice.
