Boise was founded by hardworking pioneers and tireless prospectors, but that doesn’t mean the city is all business—today’s Boise certainly is a place where people of all ages and interests can let loose and have fun. Whether you’re looking to grab a drink with some friends, searching for some hot local music or just ready to dance, the Boise nightlife scene has something to offer.

One of the fastest growing and youngest hotspots for nightlife in the city is, ironically, Old Boise downtown. The historic area is now home to a number of bars and clubs, including local favorites Tom Grainey’s, Reef and Hannah’s. Bardenay on Grove St. is known for its fantastic cocktails (the liquor is cooked up in the bar’s own copper still). Also downtown on 8th St., The Balcony is Boise’s hottest dance club, known for its high energy and great music.

For live music, go to The Venue (on Broad St.) or Big Easy (on 8th) to catch sets by up-and-coming local and national bands. Blues lovers should check out Blues Bouquet on West Main St. And for those that want it all, Neurolux on North 11th is your place. Cheap drinks, amazing shows, great DJs and a hip, diverse crowd—a Boise favorite for a reason.
