Chicago has things to offer during every season. In spring and fall you have the opportunity to stroll the city and enjoy the marvelous weather. In summer you have the attractions of baseball and beaches. In winter you have snowy shopping followed by dinner in a cozy restaurant. There really is no bad time to visit. Some report that the city is less visited by tourists in January and February so hotel bargains can be found in those months. It is actually a good time to visit Chicago if you don't mind the cold since theaters are in full swing, music abounds, and the stores are having their winter sales.
A number of musts: in Spring and Summer a boat ride on the Chicago River, especially the architecural cruise, is breathtaking. The boats leave from the corner of Wacker and Michigan. While in the area of Wacker and Michigan you can walk the Magnificent Mile, see the Wrigley building, the Tribune Tower, go to Millenium Park, just south of there. On the Magnificent Mile you can go to the John Hancock building and visit the 95th floor where you will have a beautiful view of the city and Lake Michigan. Get over to Navy Pier where there are lots of restaurants and, again, a magnificent view of the city and Lake Michigan. This is a great place for walking and people watching. Take a water taxi between Navy Pier and the Museum Campus (the Shedd Aquarium, Field Museum, Adler Planetarium, and Astronomy Museum. You will also see Soldier Field (home of the Chicago Bears).
