The Chicago Park District is a city sponsored organization in charge of the upkeep, development, and event organization at various facilities around the area, including auditoriums, sports fields, fitness centers, golf courses, gymnasiums, ice skating rinks, swimming pools, and more.
There are literally hundreds of parks throughout the Chicago area, and information about most of them can be found at this Find a Park link (found at the top right side of this page). For example, this is the Bassie Coleman Park page, which provides both history and location information. On the same “Find a Park” page, one can obtain information about many of the other facilities that are part of the Chicago Park District.
Throughout the year, the Chicago Park District sponsors various event and festivals at their facilities. A good place to find information is at this Events Page, which contains a month by month events calendar.
