By Air

Arriving in Bloomington is relatively easy by air. Indianapolis International Airport is about an hour north of Bloomington, and offers frequent flights to many major cities. There is a shuttle service that runs between the airport and several Bloomington locations, including the Indiana Memorial Union on campus. The shuttle runs nine times per day. Alternately, you can rent a car or hire a taxi or limo.

By Car

Bloomington is not located on a major interstate. It is, however, easily reachable via Indiana State Road 37 from the north or south, State Road 46 from the east and and State Road 58 from the south. 37 runs north to Interstate 465, which circles Indianapolis. It takes about an hour to drive between Indianapolis and Bloomington. To head south from Bloomington, the best bet is to take 58 down to 50 and then east to Interstate 65, which then goes south to Louisville. Indiana State Road 50 runs east all the way to Cincinnati. Interstate 70 is accessible via Indiana State Road 46 north to Indiana 231 north. Then you can go east towards Indianapolis or west towards Saint Louis.
