Indianapolis boasts a beautiful one-and-a-half mile long Central Canal that offers gondola rides, pedal boats, and bicycles of all kinds to rent.
The canal runs alongside several attractions in White River State Park (they are each lined up next door to each other and include the Indianapolis Zoo and its gardens, NCAA Hall of Champions, Indiana State Museum, IMAX Theater, Eiteljorg Museum of American Indians and Western Art, and Victory Field a triple-A baseball venue of the Indianapolis Indians). You can literally walk door to door of each attraction (getting rid of loading the car up to go somewhere else and affordable in that you only pay for parking once (less than $5). And, if you visit the Eiteljorg museum, you can get a free parking card. Two restaurants sit at the north end of the canal inside a converted temple. Creation Cafe is a hip, eccentric cafe on that features salads, sandwiches and soups using fresh and local ingredients. They also serve beer, wine and liquor. It boasts an extensive patio that has a direct view of the Indianapolis skyline. They also frequently host local live musicians (also see it’s upstairs fine dining restaurant called Euphoria). The restaurant is located in a converted church, which was called Buggs Temple. You can still see the stained glass windows, church pews for seating and other remnants of the temple.
