Notre Dame is in continuous state of growth to provide excellence in education and all that it requires. Every summer, hundreds of kids arrive at Notre Dame for youth sports camps. A stop at Notre Dame will reveal the meaning of "Play Like A Champion". Newer side of campus on the southeast corner can excite your family with a fast skate around the Compton Family Ice Arena. It's open year round. Kids get excited looking at the hockey and figure skating gift shop. Next door is the new Cook softball stadium, alumni soccer field and baseball stadium. If your kid makes a wacky face when the word museum is said and pulls your hand as far as he or she can get from that horrendous building,  be sure that the story will be very different in South  Bend. Here, there are three museums that your kid will love and will insist that you should all visit again!

In  South Bend Chocolate Company's Chocolate Museum kids will not only admire the chocolates and its unique boxes (and yes, buy many of those) but also enjoy the "Inside Scoop" tour. The tour  takes them to journey along the whole preparation of the chocolate beginning with the cocoa beans. The Museum is open Mondays to Fridays from 9:00 an to 5:00 pm (still not sure what time might be best to visit with kids) and Saturdays from 9:00 to 2:00 pm. There is an outlet store with restaurant and ice cream shop. The museum, outlet store and restaurant is located near the Kitchen Skate Board Park and Ice Box Indoor Ice Skating Rinks on Walnut St quarter mile south of Sample St.

Located at 1402 South main Street, Hannah Lindahl Childrens' Museum is a hands-on museum where kids will know and learn about science and history interacting with the exhibits. Kids willl have the opportunity to "play" in prehistory times and in the years of the Declaration of the Independence. The museum is open Tuesdays to Fridays from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm (it closes at noon for an hour).

In Healthworks! Kids' Museum, kids will learn as they work as body laborers inside a three dimensional fictional body how their own body works and how complicated the mechanisms that makes us breath and eat and run work are. Located at 111 West Jefferson Blvd, the museum opens Mondays to Fridays from 9:00 am to4:00 pm and Saturdays from noon to 4:00 pm.
