Public transportation is accessible via the Kansas City Area Transportation Authority, colloquially called the "Metro," which services the greater Kansas City metropolitan area, including both the Kansas and Missouri sides. Travelers are recommended to grab a day pass for $3, allowing unlimited boarding. It can be purchased at any Metro bus simply by asking the driver while boarding; passes expire at midnight the day of and cannot be used with a transfer.
Metro buses accept cash, change cards and monthly bus passes. Fareboxes will not make change, but can issue change cards that holds credit for later use. You must, however, notify the driver in advance if you want a change card, before inserting money.
