Ok, so you're reading this because you might be considering vacationing in Morehead,Kentucky or because you are traveling and looking for a place to spend a day/night. It's not the most interesting place to visit. But don't worry, there is plenty of fun awaiting!

Hotel/Motel:

If you're looking for a place to stay try the Holiday Inn Express. It's rooms are clean, the staff is friendly and polite, it's in walking distance to Wal*Mart, Food Lion, Nail Salon, and other little stores. The price is decent, considering it comes with free breakfast each morning, and a indoor heated pool for all hotel guests. Other hotels/motels to choose from include Quality Inn, Knights Inn, Days Inn.

Shopping:

No malls, but a few local shopping centers are located in Morehead. Wal*Mart, Fashion Bug, Big Lots and Goody's are just a few that Morehead has to offer. There are plenty of little local shops including antique stores and a flea market.

Restaurant's:

Besides from all the normal fast food such as Taco Bell, Wendy's, McDonalds, A&W, Long John Silvers,Sonic,KFC,ect. There are some wonderful places to dine at. Ponderosa Buffet offers a large selection of home made cooking like friend chicken, mac and cheese, soups and salads, fish, burgers,steaks and seafood. China Star Buffet offers a VERY large selection of wonderful Asian food including Egg Rolls, Rice, Sweet and Sour chicken, Sushi and more. If your looking for some hot wings head over to Buffalo Wild Wings located on Highway 60. With 14 different hot sauces to choose from you're sure to find one you'll like.

Attractions/Things to see:

There is something for almost everyone in Morehead. The Kentucky Folk Art Center located along Highway 60 is a great place to visit on a hot day and admission is free. Downtown Morehead offers plenty of stores including a tattoo shop and small movie theater. On Friday evening have a seat outside of Arby's and watch the local college and high school kids drive around Main St. playing music and squealing brakes. If you want do enjoy some outdoor fun take a ride over to Cave Run Lake near Salt Lick. It's a 15-20 minute ride from Morehead and worth it! Cave Run Lake offers everything from swimming, fishing, boating, cook outs, and more. The Cave Run Lake Fish Hatchery offers a great look at some of the local fish that can be found in Cave Run Lake. Looking to explore caves? See bats up in person? Then go out to Carter Caves State Resort in Carter County. (About 26 miles east of Morehead)Purchase tickets that allow you to access the many different caves (some require crawling,tight spaces,wet and cool conditions) or relax in the pool, play a round of miniature golf with the kids, go on a hike (anywhere from 1/2 mile hikes to 10 miles), horseback riding, boating and fishing. Camping too! Plus activity's that include archery, hatchet throwing, face painting, live music, and guided tours that take place daily

Overall Morehead is a nice place to stay if you enjoy the "laid back" small town feel.
