Natchitoches is worth taking the exit off of I 49. It is like stepping back into time, as the town was founded in 1714. Downtown Natchitoches faces Cane River and the quaint shops and restaurants are lined upon an old brick street. Natchitoches has somewhat of a New Orleans feel. The riverbank is worth a stroll, as well as stopping in the shops. Natchitoches' signature food item is the meat pie, and Lasyone's Meat Pie restaurant is a definate destination. There are many B&B's in Natchitoches, as well as our local university, Northwestern. The first Saturday in December is our annual Christmas Festival where over 100,000 people attend.
