Shreveport does not have any professional teams, and the city is not really known for a huge sporting community. However, you can still watch and participate in sports while you are there. There are baseball clubs that are set up throughout the city, and you can join a league to play, or you could just watch. If you like extreme sports, there are a few options for you. Skydiving is an option in the area, and you could also do skateboarding and rollerblading. If you like college football you are in luck. Every year the Independence Bowl is played following the Big 12 and Southeastern Conference seasons. This is a great event because it brings national attention to the area, creates a great atmosphere in the city, and really livens the place up quite a bit. The Independence Bowl takes place in December each year. Shreveport also has a good amount of golf courses that are worth checking out if you play the game. Though they aren't all known throughout the country, they are good courses. You could also see the Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs Hockey team play for the Central Hockey League. If you like racing you will find several good tracks to go to in the area. Three big ones are the Ark-La-Tex Speedway, Boothill Speedway, and the Red River Raceway.
