You can even try your hand at catching lobster with "Dan the Lobsterman" departing from Kaler's restaraunt. Boothbay offers a few small beaches friendly for swimmers: Barrett's Park at the mouth of Linekin Bay, Knickercane Island Park off the bridge on Barter's Island Road, and Hendrick's Head beach in West Southport. Outside of town there are larger beaches at Popham State Park and Pemaquid.
For those looking for some exercise and beautiful scenery, the Boothbay Region Land Trust offers free access to over 30 miles of trails scattered through out the Boothbay Penninsula and surrounding islands. The Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens in Boothbay is home to many trails wandering over their 248 waterfront acres.
The Boothbay Harbor Country Club offers an 18 hole golf course and it is open to the public through "stay and play" arrangements with certain local hotels. For a more informal game, try Dolphin Mini Golf, rated one of the top 10 mini golf courses in the U.S.
