Dexter Grist Mill is located on the Shawme mill pond in the historic heart of Sandwich.  The mill was first built in 1640 and enlarged in 1646.  Originally equipped with a water wheel, it was later replaced with a steel turbine.  The Mill was restored to its seventeenth century design in 1961 and features a 54-inch French burl mill stone.
