There are a variety of small stores in Vineyard Haven, though prices are higher here than they would be on the mainland. Besides the general stores for appliances, electronics and home furnishings, there are also shops that cater more toward tourists. Clothing tends to confined to boutique brands with high price tags, and even those are relatively scarce. Brickman’s at 8 Main Street (508-693-0047) is one store that offers apparel. Elora’s, at 835 Airport Road (508-693-1145), sells mostly household items but does include a line of sleepwear. For a larger selection, you will have to go to Oak Bluffs or Edgartown.
The Bunch of Grapes Bookstore (44 Main Street, phone: 508-693-2291) sells artbooks, calendars, DVDs and small gifts as well as more conventional books. The store also hosts events such as book signings with local authors, book fairs and book club meetings. For handmade sweets, try the Murdick’s Fudge shop, which specializes in decadent fudge and nut brittles. Its Vineyard Haven location is in Union Street, but the store has two other branches in Edgartown and Oak Bluffs.
Vineyard Haven is also home to a number of antique and art shops that have a good selection of upscale souvenirs. Galleries include All Things Oriental (123 Beach Road), Pyewacket’s (135 Beach Road), Tisbury Antiques (76 Main Street) and Four Generations Art Gallery (517 State Road).
