Located near numerous bodies of water, those both still and flowing, the town of Stillwater is a water wonderland throughout the year, with numerous water sports and related activities in the summer months, along with ice fishing, ice skating and skiing when the area is blanketed in deep, deep snow.

The St. Croix National Scenic Riverway stretches for 250 miles, and this includes the corridor of the St. Croix and Namekagon Rivers. These two beautiful waterways are protected today, and there are numerous activities that be enjoyed along their lengths. Each river is also home to various wildlife, much of which can be viewed in their native habitats.

For a mellower, and more intimate form of water travel consider the Gondola on St. Croix, which offers slow but peaceful tours of the river via Venice’s favorite means of transport. It might not be an Italian getaway but it’s the next best thing.  In additiona, there are Paddlewheel excursions, and pontoon boat rental options.

The area is also home to several biking, hiking and jogging trails, and these include short distances for the causal walk, or routes that are meant for a full day for a true workout. Ask your hotel for tips on the trails to hit in the area.
