In Jefferson City there is plenty to do for those who want to get active and for those who simply like to watch others play hard.

For those who like to be active, the Ellis Porter Riverside Park is a 60-acre piece of land overlooking the Missouri River. An impressive park, it has a 9,500 square-foot swimming pool, basketball and handball/racquetball courts, trails, and an amphitheater. Larger still is Binder Park, with 644 acres, including a 155-acre lake that fishing enthusiasts and boaters will enjoy (the lake has a boat launch), a campground, lighted softball fields, and sand volleyball courts. If you want to practice your swing, the place for you is Oak Hills Golf Center/Hough Park which has an 8-acre lake with boat launch as well as an 18-hole golf course. Other places to golf include Eagle Knoll, Railwood Golf Club, Turkey Creek Golf Center (public); and Jefferson City Country Club and Meadow Lake Acres Country Club (private).

If you’d rather watch others play the game and you just like cheering from the sidelines, then you might want to see a Blue Devils game at Lincoln University. Watch women’s or men’s basketball, women’s softball, men’s baseball, women’s or men’s cross-country/track and field, women’s tennis, men’s soccer, or men’s golf. This is also a great way to get involved with the community, as many natives, as well as area students, enjoy taking in Blue Devils events!
