Beach Haven is located on Long Beach Island off of the mainland coast of New Jersey. The area is home to less than 1500 permanent residents, but many visitors come through each year. Based on the name, the majority of activities in this tiny borough have to do with the beaches and the ocean.
Access to the area is obtained by crossing the bridge from the mainland into the borough of Ship Bottom. Visitors must obtain permits to enjoy the beaches of Beach Haven (between 12th Street and Nelson Avenue), which cost between $5 and $25 depending of the duration of the visit.
The beach is accessible through any of the neighborhood streets leading towards the coast.
The water activities available at Beach Haven and other areas of Long Beach Island include jet skiing, water skiing, parasailing, kayaking, snorkeling, and boating. Beach Haven Watersports, located at 2702 Long Beach Blvd, is a good place to arrange for a day full of activities.
There are a few golf courses on Long Beach Island that are open to the public while the weather is warm.
A good way to check out the area is to rent a bike and spend a day riding. There are many historical sites, and natural attractions to be explored.
