If you want to pack your calendar with events while visiting East Hampton, you’re better off heading for this beach in summer, when East Hampton is alive and kicking. There are art, garden and antique shows, interesting theatre performances and many charity events from which to choose.

Here are some selected summer events in East Hampton:

July: A can’t-miss East Hampton event is 4th of July at Main Beach, where fireworks are let off at dusk. This is the biggest of the 4th of July fireworks shows, and the colorful display can be seen for miles. There are also fireworks at Shelter Beach.

July:The Hamptons Summer Antiques and Garden Show and Sale brings together benefit and shopping in a unique way.

August 16: "A Night in the Hamptons" at Ross, benefiting the Andre Agassi Charitable Foundation. August: Hamptons Wine & Food Festival. This event brings together wine and food tasting and cooking demonstrations for a culinary tour sure to be delicious. The event highlights food and wine trends, makes good use of the Long Island wine bounty and features demonstrations from celebrity chefs. The 2006 event featured such chefs as Food TV “stars” Sandra Lee and Dave Lieberman.

Also in August each year is the Mulford Farm Antiques Show and Sale. This event is perfect if you want to bring home some antiques and collectibles from your trip.
