Closer to the center of Garden City is Lord & Taylor, on Franklin Avenue. This store has some of the highest sales-per-square-foot of all the L&Ts in the U.S. Next door to L&T is a Talbot's Outlet store, where you can find some really great bargains on women's off-season clothes and shoes. Across the street is a Sears, which has all the typical Sears merchandise but also a large selection of Lands End apparel, shoes and accessories.
Seventh Street is considered the epicenter of Garden City, and there are some great boutiques here. The Pear Tree sells high-end gifts and accessories, Vera Bradley bags, and beautiful baby gifts. For apparel, there's The Island, a Lily Pulitzer boutique; Chico's; and You-Nique Boutique. You-Nique Boutique also sells gifts, children's toys, and accessories. Paisley's sells a small selection of upscale infant and children's wear. Things Etc is the place to go for greeting cards, stationary and gifts. Neptune Camera is for camera buffs. For antiques, try Ann Madonia Antiques; for preppy menswear, try Andrew Roberts.
Close to Seventh Street on Franklin Avenue is Garden City Stitches, a fabulous yarn shop, Once Upon a Dish, where you can make your own ceramics, and Miniature Manor for dollhouse enthusiasts. As of this writing, a cigar shop will be opening soon on Franklin.
