There are 2 wonderful parts to Kingston. The Rondout area, waterfront, (Downtown) and the Stockade area (Uptown)  The Rondout area has been redeveloping for a while now, with many new restaurants and shops. This is the largest inlet between NYC and Albany, (so if you have a boat this is a great stop too).  There are many ethnic restaurants, some waterfront.  We also have a wonderful boat called the MV "Rip Van Winkle". This is a 2 hour narrated boat ride ( Hudson River) that takes you as far south as the Vanderbilt Mansion and back. This alone is worth the trip to Kingston, but there is so much more.  The Stockade area has a Saturday farmers market and also some wonderful boutique shops to browse in. If you can stay over night, there is so much to do in the county. Please look us up at www.ulstertourism.info . or call for your free Ulster County Travel Guide 800/342-5826.
