People come to Lake Placid for the XC skiing, hiking, climbing, kayaking/canoeing, leaf peeping and a plethora of other outdoor activities that let them re-connect with nature and re-synch attitudes a bit.  Sometimes the weather just does not cooperate with  outdoor plans and so it is time for plan B!

Fortunately, Lake Placid has many indoor venues for visiting families on ski vacations, Can-Am Hockey families, Horse Show families or just anyone spending time in the region.  One such venue is Fitness Revolution.  Outdoor activities in the High Peaks are great but the conditions are not always perfect, so if you need to get your heart rate up head over to Fitness Revolution for a cardio workout.  The facility is a full service health club with a free weight/machine area, cardio studio and fitness studio including continuous flow swim pools as well as personal trainers on staff to give private training if desired.  Families with kids can get a workout in while the kids head downstairs to Avalanche Adventures and climb a rock wall or go caving or play indoor golf and when weather permits there is Euro_Bungy Jumping and outdoor mini golf.

Down the road in Saranac Lake is a full olympic size pool in North Country Community College and there are day rates available there as well.

Another family venue is BowlWinkles on main street, which is a bowling alley, arcade and laser tag venue.

Of course you can always sit inside and enjoy a fire and a movie, but being in the Lake Placid area is about being active, seeing and doing, so get outside and enjoy the beauty of the high peaks region and know that weather goes against your plans there are plenty of indoor venues.
