Lake Placid is a place where most people either stay in one area and walk to where they want to be or rent a car and drive to where they want to go.  However, there has recently been increased use of the relatively new public transportation system in Lake Placid known as the Placid XPRSS.  The Placid XPRSS is a combination trolley and bus system which helps locals and travelers avoid the hassle of driving and parking in downtown Lake Placid.  This is a limited-area traveling method but offers an excellent alternative to walking or driving.  Best of all, riding the Placid XPRSS is completely free!

The Placid XPRESS runs daily from eight in the morning until ten at night beginning on the Fourth of July and continuing through Labor Day.  From Labor Day through Columbus Day and from Memorial Day through the Fourth of July, the Placid XPRESS only runs on weekend days, beginning at nine am and running until ten pm on Saturdays and six pm on Sundays.

The Placid EXPRESS trolley stops at the following locations on a schedule of approximately every fifteen to twenty minutes:

  • Cold Brook Plaza (Hannaford)
  • Comfort Inn on Lake Placid
  • Town and Country Motor Inn
  • Town House Lodge
  • Hilton Lake Placid Resort
  • NBT Bank
  • Lake Placid Village Parking Lot
  • Best Western Golden Arrow Hotel
  • Olympic Center
  • Art Devlin's Olympic Motor Inn
  • Lake Placid Train Station/Historical Society Museum
