Rochester has many great museums. Families with small children will enjoy the Strong Museum with its interactive exhibits, including a kid size grocery store and radio station. There is also a 50's style diner right in the museum.
Another great museum for families is the Rochester Museum and Science Center or the RMSC. Here you'll find interesting science exhibits, many hands on. Right next door is the Strasenburgh Planetarium where you can see a variety of star shows, educational films, and even rock n roll laser shows.
Also in Rochester is the George Eastman House and Dryden Theater. The Eastman House features the International Museum of Photography and Film as well as tours of Mr. Eastman's home and gardens. The Theater shows classic films on the big screen and hosts a variety of guest lecturers.
While not a musuem in the traditional sense, the Mt Hope Cemetary is well worth a visit while in Rochester. Here lies the final resting spot of many historical figures including Frederick Douglass and Susan B Anthony. Free guided tours are available, or explore on your own.
The Memorial Art Gallery is home to an impressive collection of art and also hosts the popular Clothesline Arts Festival each year.
