Plan for shopping early in the day.  Most stores close at 6pm.

The Main Street Gallery is where to grab handcrafted souvenirs or an artwork that attracts the eye.

The Apple Orchard at Altapass, located not too far from Blowing Rock, is a wonderful storehouse of fruits, jams, fudges, and baked goods.  Open from May to October, high-quality food shopping begins here.

The oldest building in Blowing Rock, The Martin House, has been transformed from its boarding home roots into its current quaint shopping center incarnation.  Calling the heart of town its home, Martin House is only rivaled by Southmarke, an upscale mall on Main St. that is surrounded by gardens and statues.  Rock residents go to Southmarke for art products, books, apparel, furniture, and household accessories.

For cheaper buys, shop at Tanger/Shoppes on the Parkway.

The Great Train Robbery store, housed outside Blowing Rock, features a seafood dining experience, tons of retail, and a specialty in everything home—real estate, design, and construction.
