Horseback riding and hiking are favorite activities of
Moses H. Cone Memorial Park
, one of the city’s most prominent visitor’s attractions.
Equestrian tours of the town’s scenic surroundings are available via Blowing Rock Stables for everyone nine years old and up. Rides are $35 for an hour, $50 for two.
The Blowing Rock Equestrian Preserve
, Moses’ neighbor, boasts miles and miles of trails.
Chadi Farm
and
Dutch Creek Trails
also offer visitors areas in which to trot, and Blowing Rock Horse Rentals and
Celtic Unicorn Stables
are further places from which the town’s horse-obsessed can hitch a ride
Skiing is, of course, the other big sport in this slice of Appalachia. If you
visit Blowing Rock
in the winter, you are very likely there in order to hit one of the nine slopes of the
Appalachian Ski Mountain
, all of which are open from Thanksgiving to mid-March.
Finally, believe it or not, Blowing Rock isn’t all about horses and inclines. If golfing, whitewater rafting, hiking, or biking is your bag, then this city will be more than accommodating to your athletic needs.
