Travelers should learn a little bit about the different neighborhoods in Chapel Hill to help them figure out where they want to spend the majority of their time during a vacation in the area.  Which neighborhood they will like most will depend primarily upon what type of activities they are seeking.  For example, the active nightlife centers around the University of North Carolina campus with the key bar hopping street being Franklin . If you want to drink with the college kids and buy tarheel t-shirts & paraphernalia, this is UNC party central.

During the daytime, UNC campus can be enjoyed by families and people of all ages.  It offers museums and an interesting variety of dining options.  The destination for older than college age travellers is Carrboro, originally a neighborhood for millworkers but now with a busy little downtown, & growing exponentially faster than Chapel Hill. Carrboro: plenty of attractive shops (The Painted Bird) , coffee shops (The Open Eye) and restaurants (Acme).
