Hotel Charlotte has been a neighborhood favorite for almost 30 years. A hard-to-match combination of relaxed atmosphere, reliably delicious food, good service, charming atmosphere (decorated with fixtures from a landmark grand hotel in Charlotte) and fair pricing add up to a memorable experience. Out of towners who come, usually with a regular, always want to return to Hotel Charlotte. One caution - call to make reservations for Friday or Saturday; and, tables near the bar can get smoky.  However, January 2, 2009 the restaurant will become non-smoking.  They've recently updated the menu and executive chef, Andrew King, is putting out some great food.  The restaurant maintains it's Southern focus with Cajun favorites, but there are plenty of options for other cravings.  Definitely try the she-crab soup, herbed cheesecake (it's an appetizer not a dessert and it's crazy good) and the bananas foster, prepared tableside.  If you're looking for a laid back place to eat a delicious meal with the locals, this is your place.
