There are numerous cultural attractions that can be found in and around the city of Grand Forks, which include a number of museums, art centers, theaters, and a symphony orchestra.
The North Dakota Museum of Art is located in Grand Forks on Centennial Drive Stop, and is the official art museum of the state. Founded in the 1970’s, over the past three decades it has obtained a large collection of paintings, sculptures, and other forms of artwork. The hours of operation are Monday through Friday from 9am to 5pm, and from 11am to 5pm on the weekends. Entrance to the museum is free.
The Burtness Theater is part of the University of North Dakota, and throughout the academic year there are numerous shows and performances put on by the students of the College of Arts and Sciences. For more information, check out this Schedule of Events.
The Summer Performing Arts Company is a place where students of the arts learn about putting on shows. Over the summer, there are numerous musicals, and either a drama or a comedy performance. Some of the performances are free to the public.
