Dunstable Downs

One of the best views in the country.

The vast chalk landscape of Dunstable is best seen from a height and you don't get any better

sight than from the downs. A great spot to walk your dog or to fly a kite with plenty of open spaces and paths for walking.

On a clear day you can see the Mentmore Tower's golf club near Leighton Buzzard, also visible is Aylesbury.

The most famous feature of the Dunstable Downs is the "White Lion" which was carved into the chalk hills to mark the opening of the wild animal park aproximately 40 yrs ago,

At Whipsnade Wild animal park you can go to visit there huge array of species and other attractions.

Another popular tourist attraction is the golf course, 18 spectacular holes with tricky dog-legs and water hazards combined with great

views of the surrounding area.

One thing you must take with you when on the Downs is a COAT! as it gets very windy and cold, however on a summers day with a calm

breeze it is the perfect place for a picnic with the family.

Strongly recommended by a frequent visitor  :D
