I'm an Eugene resident and have been going to Hoodriver for years for vacationing or just a weekend getaway. The drive through the columbia gorge is breathtaking and if you head up that way don't miss the scenic highway full of waterfalls, trails and picturesque views.
Hoodriver is a great vacation for hikers, bikers, fishers, windsurfers, skiers or just some down home relaxing. When I go there my favorite place to stay is Mountain Views Cottages. It is very quaint and is nestled in orchard fields with awe-inspiring views of both Mt. Hood and Mt. Adams. They are in a country setting next to a beautiful farm house. You can enjoy a stroll through the orchards or just relax on the porch and soak all it's beautiful surrounding. The air is fresh, you can hear the birds chirping and everywhere you look it's nothing but serene. Not to mention the jacuzzi isn't half bad! A great vacation exeperience to me should be what going away should be all about coming home relaxed and refreshed. Away from the hussle and bussle and more importantly feeling comfortable where I'm at. The hosts there are fabulous and will make feel no less than as if you were right at home. If you really want to get away and remove the commercialized feeling of a vacation and really enjoy why Hoodriver is such a special place I would highly recomend stay at Mountain Views Cottages. And I will leave the promise that everytime I have returned home from Mountain Views Cottages I have come home with exactly what I wanted a great sense of peace and relaxation and a longing to go back.
Among the other great things that Hoodriver provides such as the wine, great dining, awesome bike trails and a fun little downtown area you will not go wrong visting the undisputed charm this town has to offer.
