Newport, Oregon has a temperate climate without much of a change in temperature throughout the year. The ocean brings in regular breezes all year with warm summer winds and the occasional wild winter storm with snow.

Summer is Newport does not get terribly hot, the average temperatures are in the mid 60s. Ocean activities for many are limited to kite flying on the beach, but those who don't mind the cooler temperatures hop in and swim. The winter doesn't vary greatly from the summer, the temperature average only drops about ten degrees, only lower when storms roll in with cold air masses.

The high season in Newport despite temperate weather, remains the summer. There are great festivals in the city happening all year however, that make for superb times to visit. One of the favorites is the Newport Jazz Festival in early September. Great live jazz performances, delicious food, and a party on the beach; it's no surpise why this festival is so popular. A few weeks later, you can enjoy the food of the region with the Taste of Newport in early October.
