Most of what people hear when Portland weather is mentioned, is Rain. Yes, it does rain in Portland, but it rains less in Portland than Atlanta, Seattle, or Houston. When it is not raining in Portland, it can be grey and damp, but this keeps Portland wonderfully green !

If you are a sun-chaser, by far the best time of the year to go is between early July and into mid-September.  A summer day occasionally makes it up to the 90's or 100's, but most days are in the 70-89 degree range.  If you can deal with rain - as in a light day-long drizzle with gray skies - then you can go nearly any time of the year thanks to Portland's mild winter.  A wise traveler to Portland always carries a water resistant or repellent jacket.  Ball caps or rain hats are handy, but there is an unwritten rule in Portland that umbrellas are frowned upon.
