Joy Homestead c. 1754.  This treasure on Scituate Ave is almost as if it is waiting for the Joy Family to return from a hard's way work on the Joy Brook Farm.  The Cranston Historical Society has only updated the roof and modernized the kitchen.  The Joy Family were witnesses to the march of nearly 6000 French Troops lead by General Rochambeau on June 18, 1781.  There is a portion of old Scituate Avenue where the troops marched on the property of the Joy Homestead.  Come visit the only house on the Washington-Rochambeau Revolutionary Route that that is open to the public in Cranston.  There are four other privately owned surviving farm houses in Cranston to the Rochambeau March.
