An unpretentious diner with lots of character serving native “Low Country” southern cuisine.   Jestine’s is named after the cook and housekeeper who reared the founder of the restaurant, Shera Lee Berlin.   The menu includes local favorites such as country-fried steak, okra gumbo, fried chicken, shrimp Creole, fried oyster po' boys, country cream corn, black-eyed peas, and blueberry cobbler. There is a daily blue-plate special, and even a green-plate special for vegetarians. If you ever wondered what "red rice" is, ask for it here. The "table wine" is actually sugary tea in tumblers.  Note that they do not serve beer or wine on Sundays and are closed on Mondays.
