Centre Stage , Greenville's Professional Theater, is a year-round, 285-seat professional theater offering a wide range of entertainment that includes music, comedy, drama and special events within easy walking distance of the beautiful Main Street corridor. Free parking, assistive listening devices, art exhibitions, chamber music concerts, independent film screenings, galas and more await visitors to this state-of-the-art performance facility, noted for its unique configuration, comfort and intimacy.

The Centre Stage New Play Festival receives hundreds of scripts throughout the year submitted by playwrights from around the country and abroad. Four finalists are chosen to be presented in readers’ theater format during the week-long festival in September. Previous winners include The Edith Whartons (2006), Guided Tour (2007) and The Uncurled Hand (2008). Each year's festival features a playwright-in-residence of national calibre. Previous playwrights-in-residence include Lee Blessing and Arlene Hutton.
