Although Memphis is the "Home of the Blues" a great place to go after dark is Pat O'Brien's. They have an excellent dueling piano show that will knock your socks off. The piano players can play and sing well by request any of your favorite songs. You can enjoy Pat O'Brien's drinks from the Hurricane to the Purple People Eater.

Or, if you are in the mood for something local and more authentic to Memphis and Beale St., try one of the local cafes or blues bars.  Favorites include Rum Boogie Cafe, Black Diamond, and Blues City Cafe.  Depending on time of year and the day of the week, you may find a live band playing in most every bar along Beale St.  Some nights bands even set up on the sidewalks, and on alley patios between storefronts.  The street usually gets busier as the week progresses, reaching its peak on Saturday night.

Memphis also has one of the best variaties of music venues- you can check out shows playing at the New Daisy on Beale Street, or the new, beautiful Minglewood Hall in Midtown, Memphis's art-district. Many popular acts play at these venues, so you might find someone you like playing there. Or, you can check out some of the local venues, like the P&H Cafe, where many local bands like Whose Army? and the Warble play (two of Memphis's most highly regarded local bands). Memphis is definitely a music city, covering every genre and acing them.
