If you want see a piece of the Wild West in action today, head over to the Cowtown Coliseum in the Stockyards, north of downtown. Here, rodeos are held every Friday and Saturday night. The coliseum also hosts an annual stock show in January, daily cattle drives, and the Women’s National Finals Rodeo in October or November each year.
For more conventional sports spectators, Fort Worth has several professional teams. The Fort Worth Brahmas, which are part of the Central Hockey League, and the Fort Worth Flyers, part of the NBA D-League, both have their games in the downtown Convention Center. The Texas Tycoons, the city’s pro basketball team, plays at the Blue Line Arena, while Fort Worth Cats, a minor league baseball team, pitches at LaGrave Field on 6th Street. The city also hosts many racecar events, as it is home to the Texas Motor Speedway.If your interest lies in getting some physical exercise yourself, Fort Worth has many stables and ranches that hire out horses for horseback riding. Try the Beaumont Ranch in Grandview (10736 County Road 102), the Stockyards Livery & Arena (130 East Exchange) and Silver Creek Stables (9400 Silver Creek Road). For sports like soccer or baseball, fields are available at parks throughout the city. Bike, equestrian and hiking trails can also be found in Fort Worth.
