Salado Creek runs through the middle of Salado, Texas and is a favorite "cooling off place" of the locals during the hot summers.  The spring-fed creek is mostly rock bottom and is very shallow -- great for wading.  Many people will find a low spot or a rock in the middle of the creek and wade out to that point for a good photo opportunity.  Parents are found here with their kids who love to splash around in the water.  If you get tired of shopping for antiques then ask a local how to get to the creek.  (It's essentially just behind Main Street.)  Kick off your shoes, hike up your pants and wade in.  Also note that there is an over-abundance of deer in Salado and you'll find them milling around the creek just before sundown.
